Thoughts

I feel so lucky to have had you as a friend, Lorraine. We met in 1973, over 50 years ago, when we were training as teachers and did our first teaching practice in the same school, Burdett-Coutts Primary School, Rochester Row, London. When Lorraine lived in Kennington, we used to meet for tennis in Kennington Park, and often went to the pretty walled garden afterwards. (I don't think Lorraine would mind my saying that neither of us were particularly impressive on the tennis court, but we had a lot of fun!) Lorraine was always excellent company and an incredibly interesting person, because she was so well-read and well-informed. More recently, she had so much to put up with and was unbelievably brave. Sadly, Lorraine was already unwell when she visited Kevin and me in Wiltshire in spring 2022 and I shall upload 2 photographs taken then, one at Malmesbury and the other at Lacock. We visited Lorraine in Crediton on 12th September 2023 and had a delightful time with her and Holly, enjoying hearing her positive plans for developing her already charming garden. It is my lasting memory of Lorraine, a very dear and remarkable friend.

Treasured memories of such a dear friend. Lorraine, always so modest about her many talents and accomplishments, was universally admired and respected by all who met her. Her gentle, warm, kind, caring nature shone like a beacon. x
